Minutes of WCS Committee meeting held 8:35pm Tuesday 26th Aug 2025 at Whitakers after Choir Practice.

 

Present: Adrienne (president), Anne, Willi, Joan, Gavin, Maya (plus Andy).

Apologies: Mark James, Mark Yandall, Sandra

Minutes of last committee meeting held 15/07/25: Not mentioned.

Mid-year Concert De-brief:

-          Everyone thought concerts went well, especially at St Peters.

-          Relatively small audience at Rocky Bay, possibly due to so many other things on at Rocky Bay each week that people can go to. Small stage has its problems, like Carolyn couldn t hear choir. Could look at alternative venue, eg, Onetangi Hall Willi knows the treasurer there and offered to find out about how the hall is used.

-          August considered month lots of people travel, could be another reason total audience numbers were down. Agreed to aim for June for next year s mid-year concert (no school holidays in June). Adrienne to check out what else is on in June (Matariki, Live @ 5 [5pm Sundays at WMM check with Gerda], etc) before setting date.

-          A2-size posters were too small for the 3 sites cars go past (Matiatia, Surfdale wall, KP Roundabout) need to be A1.

-          Anne asked should we stay with potpourri-style for next year s mid-year concert feeling was yes. Suggested theme for next year = show tunes include manageable parts of Elijah.

Christmas Concert:

-          Agreed koha entry, proceeds to go to WH Budgeting Services.

Christmas Party:

-          Adrienne offered to host this year s end-of-year party, accepted. Good parking, has a piano, she will do a small ham.

-          Pot luck dinner, everyone brings a main dish or dessert, committee to organise nibbles/drinks.

-          Choir members to be invited 6 weeks beforehand to prepare an item to present (can be either solo or group).

-          Agreed to hold on the Tuesday night following the Christmas concert, ie, 9th Dec.

General Business:

-          Andy & Maya will possibly be away May next year.

-          Adriene asked Maya if she would like to remain co-opted onto the committee, she is most welcome to stay on.

-          Anne/Willi will be away 7th 17th Sep, Sandy will lead choir during their absence.

Next Committee Meeting: Not yet set, will call when felt a meeting is required (possibly October).
